If you have more than one suspension/revocation/disqualification order, Virginia law requires you to pay a $5 fee for each additional order as well as a reinstatement fee.

For example: If you are reinstating your driving privilege and have three effective orders, DMV will require you to pay the highest reinstatement fee, plus $5 for the second order and $5 for the third order.

Virginia law requires any customer, with 2 or more suspension/revocation/disqualification orders in effect, to pay the highest reinstatement fee for one order as well as $5 fee for each additional suspension/revocation/disqualification order. This $5 fee is referred to as a Multiple Order Fee.

Virginia law requires payment of this fee when a person has more than one effective order that requires a reinstatement fee. This fee helps recover administrative costs associated with the compliance of multiple orders on a customer's record.

Below are three scenarios:

  • If you have PAID the reinstatement fee prior to July 1, 2011 and are eligible to obtain a license, no Multiple Order Fee will be required.
  • If you have PAID the reinstatement fee prior to July 1, 2011 and you are still not eligible to obtain a license (i.e. you have not satisfied all requirements for reinstatement), no Multiple Order Fee will be required unless a new order goes into effect on or after July 1, 2011.
  • If you have NOT PAID the reinstatement fee prior to July 1, 2011 and you are not eligible to obtain a license, you will be required to pay the reinstatement fee and then a Multiple Order Fee for each additional order.

It depends:

  • If you receive only one order, and have no other effective orders requiring a reinstatement fee, no Multiple Order Fee will be required. However, you will be required you to pay the reinstatement fee for the order received on or after July 1, 2011.
  • If you have other effective orders requiring a reinstatement fee, you will be required to pay the highest reinstatement fee and a $5 Multiple Order Fee for each additional order.

No. Virginia law requires you to pay ALL fees before your driving privileges can be reinstated. If you have any Multiple Order Fees outstanding, your driving privileges will remain in a suspended/revoked/ disqualified status until all fees are paid.

No. There are no statutory provisions to contest this requirement.

No. You may pay each $5 Multiple Order Fee individually, as long as the reinstatement fee has been satisfied in full. Remember that your license will not be reinstated until ALL fees have been paid.

Yes. The compliance summary will display a general message regarding the upcoming Multiple Order Fee legislation. Additionally, compliance summaries will indicate if you are required to pay a Multiple Order Fee on all effective orders.

Yes. Multiple Order Fees can be complied online.
