About Driver Improvement Clinics

There are many Reasons for Attending a Driver Improvement Course. Make sure you know which one applies to you.

The driver improvement clinic can be completed online regardless of age or in person. If the clinic is completed online, the course and final test must be completed through a DMV-licensed online driver improvement clinic provider. If the clinic is completed in person, the final test must be completed in person. If you decide to take the course in-person, we recommend that you schedule ahead of time to ensure that you meet the DMV deadline.

The clinic may charge a fee of no more than $100 for attendance.

When you attend a driver improvement clinic, you will learn defensive driving techniques that can help you avoid and prevent crashes. These eight-hour classroom sessions are offered at sites around the state. Use our search feature to find the clinic closest to you.

Important: If you are required by the court to attend a driver improvement clinic, the court will determine if you are to be awarded safe driving points. You must present documentation from the court to the driver improvement clinic that you attend before DMV can award points. Safe driving points will not be awarded if the clinic does not receive this documentation.
