Use this transaction to add a veteran indicator to your driver’s license or ID card.
At the end of the transaction, you will be able to electronically upload proof of veteran status document(s). You may also proceed to renew or replace a driver’s license or ID card.
Important
You must submit proof of your veteran status document(s) within 45 days of your driver’s license or ID card transaction. If not, it will be issued without the veteran indicator.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a Virginia resident
- Have served either
- in the active U.S. Armed Forces or
- for more than 180 days in the Virginia National Guard or U.S. Reserves
- Have received honorable discharge status
- Hold an unexpired Virginia commercial driver’s license, driver’s license, learner’s permit or DMV-issued ID card.
What You’ll Need
Submit an acceptable U.S. Armed Forces veteran service proof document (copies accepted). Acceptable forms include the DD 2, DD 214, DD 256, WD AGO or NGB 22 forms.
