Take Care of Your DMV Business Online During Thanksgiving Closure

DMV Reminds Virginians to Buckle Up for Holiday Travel

November 21, 2023

RICHMOND – All Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) full-service customer service centers will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from Thursday, November 23 through Saturday, November 25, and will reopen on Monday, November 27. During the closure, customers can still access more than 50 services available on our newly revamped website dmv.virginia.gov.

As Thanksgiving travel ramps up, DMV reminds Virginians to buckle up to stay safe and arrive alive.

“Travel experts say this will be the busiest Thanksgiving travel we’ve seen in years, and that means there will be many more cars on the roads. We urge drivers and passengers to buckle up to keep themselves safe. And, with roads this busy, it is important to remind folks to stay buckled, even if you are sitting in traffic,” said DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey, the Governor’s Highway Safety Representative. “Try to leave yourself extra time to get to your destination and take a less populated route. Take the time to buckle up and remember not to speed. Your loved ones would much rather you arrive late than not at all.”

Last year during the Thanksgiving holiday, 10 people who were unbuckled died in crashes. DMV urges drivers to make sure you and your passengers are buckled up.
