Disabled Veteran Motorcycle

Plate Subject to Registration and Special Plate Fees:
Effective July 1, 2015, any veteran with a service-connected disability certified by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may purchase Disabled Veteran special plates, subject to all applicable registration fees and a special plate fee of $10. Any personalization fees and, if applicable, emissions fees must also be paid.
Plate Exempt from Registration and Special Plate Fees:
A veteran is eligible to receive one set of Disabled Veteran special plates for free if that veteran (1) has lost, or lost the use of, a leg, arm, or hand; (2) is blind; or (3) is permanently and totally disabled as certified by the VA. Un-remarried surviving spouses of these veterans may also receive one free set of Disabled Veteran special plates. Any personalization fees and, if applicable, emissions fees must still be paid.
Attention Autocycle Owners:
This plate cannot be purchased online or at a customer service center if it is to be used on an autocycle. Instead, mail the forms and fees to the Special Registration Department at: DMV Special Registration, P.O. Box 26668, Richmond, VA 23261-6668.

Requirements: Must provide either a signed Certificate of Disability (form VSA 54) signed by a veteran service officer or a U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs benefit letter. The letter must indicate that the disability is service-connected.
