Resume and Application Tips

Do your homework – read the job description to become familiar with this job’s responsibilities and qualifications. Make sure your resume and application clearly show your qualifications for this particular job.

In your description of current or past employment, list duties and tasks that are the same as or similar to those required of this job. For example, if the job requires ”cash handling skills for conducting monetary transactions”, then show on your application or resume your experience in accepting payments, issuing refunds, operating a cash register, etc.

List your training that is relevant to this position. For example, if the job requires ”experience with spreadsheets to track the unit’s expenses”, then show on your application or resume the advanced spreadsheet course that you completed 3 months ago at the community college.

If your resume details your experience for your current and previous jobs, it is acceptable to fill in ”See Attached Resume” in the ”Job Duties” section of your application.
