Reactivate Plates

Purpose:

Use this feature if you deactivated the plates and registration for a vehicle that was not being driven, and wish to reactivate them.

In order to reactivate your plates and registration, you must provide insurance information, if it is required, and have no outstanding tax obligations on the motor vehicle. Your policy information will be verified electronically with the insurance company. If coverage cannot be verified, your privilege to drive and register motor vehicles could be suspended.

IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, make sure that you have your insurance policy on hand. If insurance information is required, you will be asked to enter your insurance company name and policy number exactly as they appear on your insurance policy. Do not enter the name appearing on your insurance card along.

Leased Vehicles:
Reactivation MUST be requested by the vehicle owner (leasing company). The individual leasing the vehicle is not authorized to conduct this transaction without specific power of attorney from the leasing company. If you have obtained power of attorney to reactivate the vehicle's plates and registration, you must visit a DMV customer service center to provide this documentation.

Reactivating Multiple Vehicles:
If you are planning to reactivate plates and registrations for multiple vehicles, you must process each reactivation separately.
