Set up primary account in VAETS.
Beginning December 17, 2018, all primary account holders must create their account and password in VAETS. The primary account information that was collected in November will be transferred into the new system. The primary account holder will establish their VAETS account by providing the following information:
- Customer username
- Tax identification number (TIN)
- Email address
- Confirmed email address
If the information entered matches what is in VAETS, the system sends an email to the user with a security code that they will use to verify their identity. Upon verification, VAETS will allow the user to create a password. Once the primary account and password have been established, additional users authorized to perform fuel tax license, filing, and payment obligations may be identified.
If the primary contact has identified an individual as an additional user, VAETS will send an email containing a security code to the user. The additional user can use this information to set up their VAETS account.
Beginning December 20, 2018
You will use VAETS for all Motor Fuels Tax or Motor Vehicle Fuel Sales Tax transactions. On December 20, 2018, you may file your returns.
As you know, the October 2018 returns are due on December 20th. We are optimistic that return submissions will go smoothly, but we will work with filers that are unsuccessful with submitting returns on that day.
