RICHMOND - In honor of Veterans Day, all Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) customer service centers (CSC) will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.
"DMV is committed to offering customers a variety of convenient alternatives to visiting a customer service center," said DMV Commissioner D. B. Smit. "We encourage our customers to utilize these options on Veterans Day and whenever they would rather conduct DMV business from the convenience of their homes."
Customers may complete 25 different transactions at www.dmvNOW.com. Customers may renew their vehicle registration or driver's licenses online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, customers can use the mail or DMV's automated telephone service (1-888-337-4782) for routine transactions.
Virginia law encourages customers to use the Internet, phone, mail or a DMV Select to renew their vehicle registrations. The law awards a $1 discount for those who renew decals online. A $5 per-transaction fee is added to vehicle renewals completed in a full-service CSC, unless the renewal is conducted in conjunction with another transaction.
