Legal Presence Panel
DMV established a ten-member Legal Presence Panel to help the agency make policy decisions affecting implementation of the legal presence legislation. DMV Commissioner D. B. Smit chairs the Panel.
The purpose of the Legal Presence Panel was to make recommendations on policy issues affecting implementation of HB1954/SB1058 to ensure compliance with the law while best accommodating the needs and interests of DMV's customers in a manner that is fair, equitable, minimizes hardships to customers and that is cost effective for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
