Dulles International Airport: Economic Engine for Virginia
From less than 53,000 passengers in 1962 to over 23 million in 2011, Dulles Airport celebrates its 50th anniversary as a prime economic force in northern Virginia and for the Commonwealth as a whole. Three particular aspects of the airport's impact will be dicussed: cargo and freight, the Dulles Metro Rail project, and highway construction projects serving the airport.
