DMV Mobile Office to Serve Customers at Norfolk Street Festival
DMV 2 Go Provides All DMV Services Including New Veterans ID Card
RICHMOND - DMV’s mobile customer service center called DMV 2 Go will provide all DMV services to customers at the Granby Street Experience, a Norfolk Street Festival on Friday, September 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The festival is being held in the 400 block of Granby Street.
The handicapped-accessible full service office provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver licenses and ID cards. Knowledge tests are available, and applicants may get their pictures taken and complete vision screenings. Veterans can apply for Virginia’s new veterans ID card. Customers can order disabled parking placards or plates, and get vehicle titles, license plates and decals. If Virginians have recently moved, they can stop in to update their addresses on their DMV record, and also update their voter registration and organ donor information.
"We are excited to offer of services during the Granby Street Experience Festival," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "Our goal with our DMV 2 Go mobile office program is to provide services to customers at a time and place convenient to them, and we are happy to partner with the Norfolk Department of Development to further that mission."
DMV staff will be prepared to assist with services specific to veterans including applying for the new veterans ID card. For a one-time $10 fee, the veterans ID card allows veterans to easily show veteran status and enables retailers to easily verify the individual’s status as a veteran. It is a win/win situation for veterans and retailers.
Staff will also be accepting and processing certificates of disability, which allow veterans to apply for a registration fee exemption. DMV also offers more than 30 military-themed license plates.
Customers are encouraged to research and bring the proper documents to complete their transactions by using the interactive document guide at www.dmvNOW.com.
