Independence DMV Select Celebrates New Improved Service Location
DMV 2 Go Mobile Office in Town Providing Supplemental Services
RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and the Town of Independence will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new DMV Select service location. The event will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at 317 East Main Street, Independence, VA 24348. Local legislators and other dignitaries are slated to attend.
The new Independence DMV Select is an updated facility with more parking than the previous location. DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb stated, "DMV has had a presence in Independence for 30 years and has been automated for over a decade. Of all 57 DMV Selects, this is the only location with drive-thru service. The staff does a tremendous job and we are proud of our ongoing partnership." The Independence DMV Select processed more than 25,000 transactions last year.
DMV''s mobile office will also be nearby at Food City, 568 E Main Street, serving customers that day. DMV 2 Go is a full-service office on wheels that supplements Independence DMV Select service. Customers can visit DMV 2 Go between 9:00am and 5:00pm for any DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver''s licenses and ID cards.
