DMV 2 Go to Serve Veterans at Employment Resource Fair
Mobile Office Provides All DMV Services Including New Veterans ID Card
RICHMOND - DMV's mobile customer service center called DMV 2 Go will provide all DMV services to veterans and their families on Tuesday, August 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Veteran's Employment Resource Fair at the University of Mary Washington Stafford Campus University Hall located at 125 University Boulevard.
The handicapped-accessible full service office provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver's licenses, adult and child ID cards, and Virginia's new veterans ID card. Road and knowledge tests are available, and applicants may get their pictures taken and complete vision screenings. Customers can order disabled parking placards or plates, and get vehicle titles, license plates and decals. If Virginians have recently moved, they can stop in to update their addresses on their DMV record, and also update their voter registration and organ donor information.
"We support Governor Bob McDonnell's goal of making government services more easily accessible for our veterans," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "What better way than to bring services directly to them. This Veteran's Employment Resource Fair is the perfect opportunity to serve our customers at a time and place convenient to them."
DMV staff will be prepared to assist with services specific to veterans including applying for the new veterans ID card. The veterans ID card allows veterans to easily show veteran status and enables retailers to easily verify the individual's status as a veteran. It's a win/win situation for veteran and retailer.
Staff will also be accepting and processing certificates of disability, which allow veterans to apply for a registration fee exemption. DMV also offers more than 30 military-themed license plates.
Customers are encouraged to research and bring the proper documents to complete their transactions by using the interactive document guide at www.dmvNOW.com.
