DMV to Sell Fishing Licenses at the Douthat State Park
All DMV Services Available During Trout Season Opener
RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles' mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will be selling fishing licenses at Douthat State Park for the opening of trout season April 6-8. DMV will be open Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thanks to a new partnership with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF), DMV customers can now buy fishing and hunting licenses and temporary boat registrations at any DMV customer service center, including the mobile offices. "We are always looking for better ways to make government services even more accessible to customers," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "With the large number of fisherman expected at Douthat State Park for the opening of trout season, we are bringing DMV to them making it more convenient to purchase fishing licenses on the spot. Fisherman can purchase licenses in the park store or from DMV."
DMV will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of DMV 2 Go at 11:00 a.m. on April 6 to celebrate the mobile office's first visit to a Virginia State Park. A number of dignitaries are scheduled to attend.
DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the mobile office to provide secure service at virtually any location. The full service mobile office provides all DMV transactions so visitors to the park can conduct any DMV-related business.
If in need of a driver's license, ID card or other DMV services, customers are encouraged to research and bring the proper documents to complete their transactions by using the interactive document guide at www.dmvNOW.com.
