DMV Offers Online Tracking of Handicapped Placard Delivery
Customers Can Follow Production and Mailing of new Products

RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is offering new services making it easier for customers to renew handicapped placards and find out when they may receive their new products in the mail. By signing up for a myDMV account at www.dmvNOW.com/online, customers can now elect to receive handicapped placard renewal notices through email, text or phone message, rather than getting a paper reminder in the mail. Customers may also log on to their myDMV account to follow the production timeline of their placards.

"While most customers receive their products in a few days, mail delivery times can vary," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "One of our most frequent customer questions is 'When will I receive my product?' With this new service, customers can log on to our website and know exactly when the U.S. postal service received their products for delivery."

Twenty-four hours after applying for or renewing a handicapped placard at a DMV customer service center or through the website, the customer can go online and see the delivery status. For security, customers need a DMV-issued personal identification number (PIN) to take advantage of this new service. Once logged in, customers will either see that handicapped placard is in production by DMV, or the date that it was mailed. If the placard is returned by the postal service to DMV as undeliverable, the customer will be asked to contact DMV to verify or update his mailing address.

These services are also available for receiving vehicle registration and driver's license or ID card renewal notifications and tracking production of driver's licenses and ID cards. More than three-quarters of a million Virginians have signed up to receive renewal notices via email, text or phone message. Nearly 60,000 customers have used the online feature to track production and delivery of their driver's license or ID card.
