New DMV Mobile Office to Serve VUU Students, Faculty, and Staff
DMV 2 Go to Visit Virginia Union University for the First Time

RICHMOND - A new mobile DMV customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, is making its debut at Virginia Union University, offering another convenient method for college students and university faculty and staff to do their DMV business. DMV 2 Go will be open for business at 1500 North Lombardy Street, Richmond, VA, 23220, across from the Henderson Center, on Tuesday, November 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

DMV will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of DMV 2 Go at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate this new partnership. A number of legislators and local dignitaries are scheduled to attend.

DMV 2 Go will visit other university and college campuses, assisted living facilities, businesses and military bases throughout Virginia. The mobile office has already had success serving customers on the campuses of Old Dominion, George Mason and Norfolk State Universities.

"We're excited to launch this convenient service for Virginia Union students, faculty and staff," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "Our goal with this program is to bring DMV services directly to today's busy Virginians at locations convenient to them. The mobile offices serve as community connection tools, and provide added value for the places they visit, such as Virginia Union."

The handicapped-accessible full service office can provide all DMV transactions including driver's licenses and ID cards, disabled parking placards, vehicle titles, license plates and decals. In addition, if Virginians have recently moved, which we know is often the case in a college community, they can stop in to update their address on their DMV record, and also update their voter registration address and organ donor status. Customers can search for other state services through a wireless Virginia Internet portal.

DMV 2 Go is equipped with the latest wireless technology to accomplish the needed connection to DMV's computer systems. The wireless capability allows the units to provide secure service at virtually any location.
