RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announces a new partnership to provide selected DMV services in Highland County.
Called DMV Selects, private citizens and local governments contract with DMV to conduct vehicle-related transactions. DMV currently has 57 DMV Select partners throughout the state. Each DMV Select has online access to DMV allowing the partner to update customer records immediately as well as issue vehicle decals.
The Highland DMV Select at Monterey will be operated by Commissioner of the Revenue Darlene Crummett and Treasurer Lois White beginning Monday, April 11, 2011. The Highland Select at Monterey is located at 165 West Main Street inside the Commissioner's and Treasurer's offices. The Select's hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"Customers in the western part of the Commonwealth rely heavily on our DMV Select partners, and residents in Highland County are no exception," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "The closest full-service DMV office to Monterey is an hour away in Staunton, and the Lexington DMV is over an hour and a half away. This new partnership with Highland's local government is providing a necessary service to Virginians."
